‘Cafemnee Confidence’ – Hillary’s Story

Hillary Saxophonist Cafemnee Millicent Stephenson

I attended Cafemnee for the first time because I wanted to make friends with like-minded women, particularly other female saxophonists; because I was looking for support, tips and tricks to share, and also because I wanted to learn about the music industry and gauge my ability, as I had been playing on my own (at home or during studio time). I am pleased to say that I got all of the above and much more: I have grown enormously, both in confidence and in attitude – oh yes, and my playing has improved hugely too.

Cafemnee workshops, the fifth of which I am going to attend on 6th April this year, have given me the strength, belief and confidence to ‘get out there’ and perform. Now I play regularly at Open Mic sessions and I have performed as a guest at 2 professional gigs.

Besides, despite I only knew Millicent before arriving for my first workshop, I found it amazingly easy to make more friends very quickly. Everyone is so warm and welcoming!
