A couple of weeks ago, we shared Angela’s experience on stage at Barcelona. Interested in the stories others could have about performing in front of an audience, we reached out to some of our members, looking for anecdotes. This is what Carlene McKenzie told us:
Having been asked by Millicent to perform with my fellow musicians (saxsophonists) for her Not Just Jazz 5 concert in July; it became very apparent that without rehearsing, and rehearsing, and rehearsing; sometimes late into the night, you will not perform at your best; and to build your confidence to perform. I did not realize the amount of time, effort, dedication and commitment you need to have for your craft, and the behind the scenes rehearsals you have to put in to perfect just one song – let alone four (4) and an additional song. Thanks Millicent for the experience and opportunity to see and get a taste of what you have been doing for all these years. MAY THERE BE MORE SWEET HARMONIES!!!
Thanks a lot for sharing, Carlene! Your dedication and the time spent on rehearsals really paid off with the excellent performance you and the other women offered during Not Just Jazz 5. As we have said multiple times before, practise is key.
